What is a sensor?
A sensor is a electronic component which detects and responds to some input or changes from the physical environment.Sensors are playing a smart role in the history of smartphones, not only in smartphones, but also in other electronic gadgets. As time evolved, different sensors with amazing functionalities came into existence. In this Tech class we will gain some knowledge about some of the sensors used in smartphones.

1. PROXIMITY SENSOR
Proximity sensor is a type of sensor which detects the objects close to it without physical contact.Proximity sensors used in smartphones are mostly infrared based sensors which detects "proximity" when they are covered.
It prevents accidental touch events during a call and also turn off lcd display to reduce battery consumption. These are highly flexible and long lasting since there is no physical contact with the objects. (10000 रूपए से भी कम कीमत में मिल रहें है ये बेहतरीन वाटरप्रुफ स्मार्टफोन)

2. FINGERPRINT SENSOR
Unlocking your phone with password, pin or even with a pattern has became old and extinct. So most of the new smartphones come eqipped with finger print sensors. The main purpose of the finger print sensor is security and protection. It provides more secure way of protection to your smartphone and helps in faster unlocking of devices when compared to above three lockscreen securities.(अब Truecaller से Google Duo के जरिए करें वीडियो कॉल)
3. ACCELEROMETER (accelerometer sensor uses)
Usually screen of your smartphone rotates from portrait to landscape mode or vice versa while playing a game or while watching a movie. Why do you think this will happen? It’s due to the presence ofaccelerometer. It measures physical acceleration relative to free fall alongone dimension. [WhatsApp एंड्रॉयड ऐप में आया एक और अनोखा फीचर]
Accelerometer will measure the directional movement of a device which inturn detects the orientation of the phone. It gives a best user experience while watching videos, while surfing web, even when playing games. (How to Automatically Lock Windows PC Using Dynamic Lock)
4. GYROSCOPE (gyroscope in mobile use)
This sensor adds an extra dimension to the information supplied by the accelerometer by tracking rotation. This sensor is used tocontrol and maintain the position, level or orientation based on the angular momentum.
Gyroscope works with an accelerometer to detect the rotation of phoneand features like tilting of phone to play racing games enhances the overall gaming experience.
5. MAGNETOMETER (magnetometer sensor in android)
Smartphonescomes (magnetometer in phonesmagnetometer sensor)equipped with with a magnetometer, otherwise known as compass. It helps your smartphone to measure earth’s magnetic field. The magnetic sensor in your smartphoneis not an actual magnet, it is however capable of sensing the magnetic field ofearth. It provides mobiles phones with a simple orientation in relation to the earth’s magnetic field. This helps your smartphones to know which way is north so it can auto rotate maps depending onyour physical orientation
6. what does ambient light sensor do
This is a very useful sensor, that every smart phone musthave. An ambient light sensor automatically measure the amount of light in the environment and Accordingly adjusts screen brightness. If your phone is in darkplace, it dims the screen brightness, if your phone is in bight place, it brightens the screen. The same option called auto brightness. This will save your smartphone’s battery and makes viewing more comfortable. (Adsense Ki RPM kaise badaye Tips of July 2017 hindi

7. BAROMETER
If you use a smartphone, it probably already has abuilt-in barometer. Smartphone manufactures include barometers to improve GPS elevation results, because they can be adversely affected by atmospheric pressure. Barometers measure atmospheric pressure, so you can get information of whether situation around you. So this sensor helps us to get the information about whether condition based on the atmospheric pressure (5 Arcade Games To Play On Your Mi Phone )

8. INFRARED SENSOR [how does infrared sensor work]
Every Xiaomi smartphone user will certainly know about thissensor. Xiaomi is the only manufacturer to provide an Infrared sensor in allits budget, mid-range and flagship phones.
This sensor works as an universal remote for many electronicgadgets like Tv, Fans, AC etc. You don’t have to search for remotes for several electronic gadgets, if you have a smartphone with infrared sensor. File sharing can also be done with the supported devices
